HADDON HEIGHTS, NJ – This week, Congressman Rob Andrews announced that the Blackwood Fire Department will receive a total of $146,276 in federal funds to boost its fire department roster. This grant, awarded under the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program, will help hire professional firefighters and assist in the recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters. The SAFER program enables fire departments to be staffed and prepared 24 hours a day, in order to ensure that our communities are protected from fires and fire-related hazards, at all times.
This week, Congressman Andrews announced the completion of a $5.6 million infrastructure project that will generate economic activity and provide safety to students, and employees in the City of Camden . The project, funded by a Transportation Investment Generating Economy Recovery (TIGER) grant from the Department of Transportation, will enhance access to downtown Camden, driving growth in the region and providing the residents of South Jersey with safe, alternative means of transportation.
HADDON HEIGHTS, NJ – Today, Congressman Rob Andrews announced that the Camden Redevelopment Agency (CRA) was awarded $2 million in federal grants for environmental cleanup projects in Camden City that will increase economic development potential in South Jersey and grow jobs for our region. Earlier this year Rep. Andrews cast his vote in support of this grant program, which is administered by the Environmental Protection Agency, so that Camden’s contaminated properties can be cleaned up and redeveloped
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, a new report was released by the White House on the harm that automatic spending cuts scheduled to occur on Friday would cause here in New Jersey. Rep. Andrews renewed his call for Congress to take swift action on a balanced plan to stop these automatic spending cuts referred to as sequestration. The looming cuts threaten our economy as well as a range of vital services for children, seniors, small businesses, and our men and women in uniform.
