Aug 3, 2012
HADDON HEIGHTS, NJ – Monday, Congressman Rob Andrews announced $4.5 million in federal affordable housing funds to create construction, maintenance, retail and management jobs developing affordable housing for families, seniors, and those with special needs in Camden and Gloucester counties. Congressman Andrews has expressed his full support for the project in discussions with the NJ Home Mortgage and Financing Agency, which oversees development proposals.
Funding for this project will help develop four projects in South Jersey, including 80 apartment units for families in Gloucester Township, 184 units for families and seniors in Winslow Township, 40 units for seniors in Lawnside, and a senior living complex with retail space in Woodbury.
“These projects will each provide a good, clean and safe environment for South Jersey families and seniors while creating much-needed construction jobs,” said Congressman Andrews. “More importantly, these housing projects will support South Jersey towns by bringing people closer to the local businesses our economy relies on.”
Statewide, New Jersey received $18.7 million in federal affordable housing funds to support 18 projects this year. As a member of the Education and Workforce Committee, Congressman Rob Andrews continues to support efforts to bring jobs to the region, strengthen the economy and improve the standard of living for South Jersey residents.
